Feature Fabric Friday: 'Tumbling Roses' by Leanne Culy for Hemptech

Hemptech have re-released a great textile print by kiwi artist and designer Leanne Culy, called 'Tumbling Roses'. It's a little geometric, a little floral, and more than a little bit perfect for a range of interior applications! It comes in a host of colours from soft antique tones through to strong reds and blacks. A really fresh and exciting direction for the Hemptech and Leanne Culy collaboration.

Feature Fabric Friday: 'Raupo' by Ingrid Anderson

We've recently specified the latest textile design from kiwi designer Ingrid Anderson - 'Raupo' - for a client of ours. Ingrid is well known for her turquoise greens, burnt oranges and reds, but this design embraces an earthier colour palette with an abstracted design of the NZ 'Raupo' or bullrush plant.

Laid out flat it's really striking and graphic, but once gathered to use as a curtain it has a real softness and movement to it which is just perfect for a relaxed interior, it's tones blending beautifully into the surrounds.

Cotton & Flax

Erin Dollar is the owner, maker, and designer behind Cotton & Flax. Since 2010, she has been creating limited edition textile goods, as well as fine art prints on paper, from her home studio in Los Angeles, California.
Each step of the creation of Cotton & Flax textiles is completed by Erin, beginning with the pattern design and the selection of heirloom quality fabrics. Erin draws each pattern by hand using brush and ink, and the drawing is later transferred to a silkscreen to create multiples on textiles. When it comes time to do the printing, Erin scours local sources to find beautiful linen and linen blend fabrics to hand print with her designs. She then carefully hand prints each piece of fabric with her original designs, which she later sews into pillows, teatowels, napkins, or coasters.

Feature Fabric Friday: 'Knitted Forest' by Hemptech

Introducing 'Knitted Forest' by New Zealand's much loved textile company Hemptech. Their latest printed linen/cotton was designed by Mirjam Spronk - here's a snippet about the inspiration behind her design;

'...The Knitted Forest shelters many tiny birds as it keeps them warm in winter, and cool in summer. Once the sun sets the night music sets in. If we listen carefully we may hear the sound of the Little Owl casting it's voice to the wind; in search of it's mate...'

This upholstery weight cloth would make up beautifully on an armchair, an ottoman or in a set of cushions. Which colour would you choose?

Hemptech: David Trubridge Textile Design

We have just received sampling for the new collection of textiles from Hemptech called 'Rings', designed by the iconic NZ designer David Trubridge.

'Rings, colours and patterns are inspired by landscapes photographed by David on his adventures around the world. “The photos are the only trace I have of my time in these places. On the aeroplane coming home, I’d often draw expressive ‘doodles’ as an attempt to create, in a sort of meditative process, something of my feeling for the rhythms and patterns of nature.”

Pop in today to check out this gorgeous summery printed linen, available in both drapery and upholstery weight!
