Feature Fabric Friday: 'Makela' Collection by Villa Nova

Releases of the latest fabric collections have now wound up for the year, but there are still a few goodies that we have yet to share with you! 

We are excited about the most recent Villa Nova range called 'Makela' - it's bright, fresh, and full of versatile prints in a really usable price bracket too. 

If you see are sensing a Romo feel from looking at these designs you wouldn't be wrong; Villa Nova is the sister company to Romo - sharing designers and mills - so a certain Romo flavour and quality is always carried over to their product which is a nice bonus!

We are in the process of choosing a few fabrics from this collection to display in our studio for the New Year... watch this space!

The Latest from the Sewing Room Table

The midnight oil was burned to get these dining chair seats re-upholstered and a few co-ordinating cushions made, but it was so worth it!

All in the gorgeous new velvet from James Dunlop, 'Mauritius' colour paradise and piped in 'Zegna' colour mediterranean. Hope the client loves them!

Feature Fabric Friday: 'Life' Collection by James Dunlop

The lovely new 'Life' collection is 'full of painterly florals, vivid birds and intense stripes'. It's a bit of a follow-up range to the hugely popular 'Art and Soul' collection from last year, so we're all for seeing more of the same! All of the designs are printed on a linen/cotton basecloth are also available as wallpapers, as well as a velvet or two. Interested in seeing some sampling? Speak to us today!

Throwback Thursday: Parker Knoll Re-upholstery

Just before our move earlier this year we breathed new life into a lovely old Parker Knoll chair for a client of ours. The frame was completely stripped and re-polished, and the cushions re-upholstered in one of our favourite staple fabrics, 'Troy'.

These chairs are absolute classics, but are becoming harder and harder to find - catch one when you can!

A Wavy Shade

We have recently completed this shade re-make for a client of ours - we were asked to replicate her existing shade that was just a bit old and tired, this time using the gorgeous 'Painted Garden' fabric from James Dunlop. Isn't the wavy shape cool!? The original shade had sentimental value so we re-used the trim in a nod to its former life.

A Custom Designed Privacy Screen

Just before Christmas we commissioned our lovely joiner, Terry to make a room dividing/privacy screen for a client of ours.

The timber frame has been lacquered in Resene 'Bianca', and the fabric panel inserts are James Dunlop 'Jardin' poppy on the fronts, with plain, crisp white outdoor grade fabric on the backs to add some protection from the sun reflecting off of Wellington harbour outside.

We were so pleased with how it turned out, and the client was too!

Tropical Lampshades

Here's a sweet set of three lampshades in James Dunlop 'Oleander', all ready to head to their new home where they'll be hanging like ducks in a row above a kitchen bench!

Mix and Match Upholstery

We have just completed a really fun upholstery job for a lovely client of ours - which allowed us to indulge our love of mixing up fabrics!

This Don sofa and chairs are covered in a mixture of 'Troy' by James Dunlop, 'Savoy' by Villa Nova, and piping, panels and buttoning in a lovely velvet called 'Entice' by Warwick.

Gorgeous Garden Wallpaper

The James Dunlop Art and Soul Collection is proving a huge hit with our clients - and here is an example of just why! The paper design, 'Garden' was specified for this client's bedroom in a vivid grape colour-way, and here it is in situ! Doesn't it look amazing!?

Art and Soul Sampling - In Store Now!

We have FINALLY got our sampling for the fabulous Art and Soul collection from James Dunlop!
I know many of you have already been crafty and ordered your fabrics and wallpaper from this collection by getting onto the internet and finding the design you are after that way - but now it's even easier, just pop on in to the store to see the sampling in the flesh!
