Friday Fun Day - Deliveries from Thread Design

We've just had a big cushion order arrive from Thread Design - a great selection of their 'Cross' cushions in three yummy colour ways. These babies are all heading off to dress the beds as part of our work updating the interior of boutique Wellington accommodation, Ohtel.

This dreary, drizzly Friday has just been made a little cheerier!

Over the years we have encountered many a client desperate to find a cool shower curtain - it just seems to be one of those items where the options in little old NZ are so limited!

Well how about checking out these curtain designs from one of our favourite homeware companies, Ferm Living. Their fresh, clean, graphic style fits so well in a crisp, clean bathroom. Talk about soaping up in style!

Wallpaper Wednesday: 'Claesson Koivisto Rune' by Eco

This wee book of gloriousness slid across the studio desk last week - it features a whole host of perfectly refined Scandi inspired patterns with subtle and balanced colour palettes, true to form for the Swedish company behind all of the Eco wallpaper ranges on the market today.

Coastal Inspiration

A couple of weekends ago, Katie headed out on a walk to the lighthouses at Pencarrow on a typically wild and woolly Wellington day and basically got blown all the way out there, only to have to struggle back again in that chilling wind. Not so fun!

Here's a piccie she took while out there - you can almost feel that wind whipping off the harbor!

The outdoors can easily inspire an interior, and here's a wee cottage retreat that feels as though it had similar design inspiration behind it to the coastal feel in Katie's image; layers of texture, mixtures of crisp colours with weathered, worn undertones, nothing too fussy, nothing unnecessary... makes you want to just curl up somewhere cosy with a book and a cuppa!

A Scandinavian Inspired Home

I caught an old episode of Grand Designs a few nights ago, only to see the creation of a fabulous Scandinavian inspired home for UK interior designer Kathryn Tyler. I love her use of clean lines, white surfaces teamed with warm timber tones, and injections of colour throughout with her personal objects. Not to mention a really cool 'at home' interiors studio. I want to live in there!

New In Store: Bright Sprout Pendant Lights

We are thrilled to be able to share with you the latest addition to our store this week - the Bright Sprout pendant lights straight out of Denmark.

As is always the way with Scandinavian design these bulb fittings are sleek, simple and beautifully made. They come in three finishes; oiled, soap finished or smoked, and with 3 metres of cord in a range of colours.

Imagine these staggered down your hallway, over your kitchen counter or wound around a hook and used as a bedside light... the options are endless!

Wallpaper Wednesday: Scandinavian Floral for BorasTapeter

We recently lent out this gorgeous sample of Borastapeter wallpaper to a client of ours - we absolutely love the light, floral feel of this Scandinavian print!

Furniture by Trunk Studio

Somewhat reminiscent of the Don chairs of the 60's and 70's that us Kiwi's know and love, Canadian designers Trunk Studio are producing some very cool chairs and other items of furniture that are simple, clean lined and timeless in style and materiality to equally suit today's interiors market. Such a shame that they are so far away, but wonderful to admire images of none-the-less!

Their 'Station Chair' is inspired by memories of canoe tripping and snowshoeing through the forest, with the wool based upholstery evoking feelings of snuggling under a warm blanket at night. Lovely!
