The Home of Abigail Ahern

One of my favourite interior designers, Abigail Ahern, had her house featured recently in The Resident. Take a look!

Her signature dark colours are so delicious and moody - OK they're not everyone's taste and definitely don't suit many styles of NZ house (ie. low ceilings, small windows) but when layered with her perfect mix of contemporary and vintage, texture and pattern, dramatic vs subtle lighting, and oodles of quirkiness, man it works!

Interior Designer Crush: Abigail Ahern

I've recently re-discovered the talented UK interior designer, Abigail Ahern.
Between designing interiors and product, running a store, flying all over the world to run seminars and putting out books she is a very busy lady... totally inspiring!

Abigail's signature style includes the use of dark, moody paint colours, a complete mash-up of furniture styles and combinations of scale, and a general disregard for the 'rules' of design, ie. a strong dislike for all things symmetrical. Very refreshing!

Her blog is a great source for tips and tales of her design life - I particularly love a statement that I have heard (read) her say often - that all rooms should have a touch of whimsy or humour included wherever possible.
