Mod Green Pod

In the midst of the dreadful tragedy unfolding just a couple of hours away from us in Christchurch, we are trying desperately to find things to bring even a small amount of cheer to our day, and we managed to find a little bit!

We are the suppliers of a great range of fabrics by Mod Green Pod; a company specialising in 100% organic cotton products.

Things We're Loving: Chelsea Textiles

We stumbled across this fabulous UK company Chelsea Textiles, who produce a stunning range of mid century modern furniture. Here's a glimpse of just some of their pieces, but our absolute favourite is this set of table and chairs. LOVE!

Nikki has some new little friends hanging out on her whiteboard, helping her to be organised and keep tabs on all our jobs!

Quack Quack

We happen to know that this little beauty is the last of it's kind in the country, and he's looking for a new home!
And just in case you thought this was a duck hiding in a tube, it's actually a lamp! And probably the cutest lamp around! He has burnished silver legs and a satin shade, and if you'd like to know more about re-homing this wee darling, contact us here pronto so we can give you more details!

'Timeless in Thorndon' - A Pride In Print Winner

Look out! Look out! It's time to really toot our own horn!

Last year, esdesign were approached by a lovely client who, in restoring a room in her Wellington villa, had found a piece of the original damask wallpaper behind the skirting boards. She asked that we design a one-off wallpaper for the room, based on the original scrap that she had found. Sean set to work, and painstakingly designed this magnificent paper that you see here. It's a designers' dream project!

To top it all off, the design then went on to be the Gold Award Winner in the Specialty Products - Limited Edition Prints section of the 2010 'Pride In Print' awards. Success! We are very proud... can you tell?

We Love...

Parker Knoll

 

This beautiful Parker Knoll is off to a new home this week after a full restoration of the timber-work, new foam, and re-upholstery in this gorgeous Sanderson tartan wool. It is a great example of restoring a pre-loved chair in a very sensitive way. They don't always have to be in crazy bright colours!

Fitzroy Update: Codi Design

We'd love to share with you a bit about Codi Design, the team behind the new Hemptech fabric, 'Fitzroy', as mentioned a few posts earlier.

'We are a team of designers who work collaboratively. I did the design full scale using pen and pencil (it took over 120 hours) and then it was scanned and made into a digital file ready for printing...' 

There's a serious amount of work that goes into the design of any fabric, and this is certainly no exception!

The Art of Tatting: Ngaio Rue

 

We'd like to introduce you to Ngaio Rue, the nimble fingered creator of these beautifully hand crafted necklaces and earrings.

The art of tatting is a technique originally used to create a lace like edging on clothing, made up from a series of loops and knots, rings and chains. Ngaio has transformed this art into delicate jewellery in a range of glorious colours and designs. The ones photographed are only a small selection of the collection we have!

We are unbelievably excited to be able to share the new furniture range from our lovely friends at Scooter Modern.

Each piece has a distinct retro style, and a natural ply and lacquered finish.

Sitting Pretty

 

We've just completed a re-vamp of some retro bar stools that were in our collection of goodies, and now they're all ready for some very lucky clients of ours. 

The red and pink vinyl works in so well with the new lamp shade we've had made. Their new lease on life included new foam, new vinyl, and re-powder-coated frames. Just like new! Only SO much cooler.
