Things We Do Thursday - Colour Consultation

We're starting a new wee feature this week - highlighting and reminding our lovely blog followers and clients about just some of the services we offer!

First up - colour consultancy. We've met with a handful of confused clients over the summer who want to make the most of the great weather and are ready to paint their house exteriors but are truly stumped as to what direction to go in, in terms of colour and colour combos...

That's where we come in! We can give you thoughtful colour suggestions based on your likes, dislikes, the style of your home, the area your home is in and its outlook, fashion and trends (depending on whether you're wanting to follow them or not!), and key factors such as sun exposure (funnily enough this has a bearing on how dark a colour you should be painting your house!).

Marinski Handmades

We find these handmade plates and bowls by Marina Marinski so sweet!! Marina is a jewellery maker, art historian and animal lover; designing all sorts from illustrated necklaces, brooches and earrings to painted ceramics.

Cotton & Flax

Erin Dollar is the owner, maker, and designer behind Cotton & Flax. Since 2010, she has been creating limited edition textile goods, as well as fine art prints on paper, from her home studio in Los Angeles, California. 

Each step of the creation of Cotton & Flax textiles is completed by Erin, beginning with the pattern design and the selection of heirloom quality fabrics. Erin draws each pattern by hand using brush and ink, and the drawing is later transferred to a silkscreen to create multiples on textiles. When it comes time to do the printing, Erin scours local sources to find beautiful linen and linen blend fabrics to hand print with her designs. She then carefully hand prints each piece of fabric with her original designs, which she later sews into pillows, teatowels, napkins, or coasters.

Christina Liljenberg Halstrøm Furniture

Take a peek at the contemporary style of designer Christina Liljenberg Halstrøm. She studied design and art in Stockholm, then went on to graduate from The School of Design at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen in 2007. Her furniture has influences from her parents Nordic roots, and she follows a very minimalist approach to both the shape and use of materials within her designs, choosing to work with natural elements such as wood, leather and wool.

WE ARE MOVING THE INTERIOR DESIGN CONSULTANCY TO NEW PREMISES AND PUTTING OUR RETAIL STORE ONLINE
 

From our small premises beginning in 2004, on the Old Hutt Road in Thorndon, we then opened our lovely retail space at One Marion Street.  We have been here for 6 years and loved it.  But, our lease has now come to an end and this has given us the opportunity to move to our next phase of esdesign, providing solely professional interior design consultancy to our clients.

Our decision to close just the retail arm of the shop has not been taken lightly.  We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here and we would like to thank all of you so much for your continued support.  But we are not sad - we are buzzing with excitement to start 2014 in our new premises.

There will be lots of questions – where are you moving to?  Can we still pop in to look at fabrics? Can we still get our upholstery done and lampshades made?  In the next couple of weeks we will send you all this information....

In the meantime please note that our last retail day is Saturday 21^st December 2013.

Come in and check out the new addition to our shop... the patchwork chair! An eclectic mix of fabrics, including patches from the original. Sean managed to get this finished before he headed off overseas to his homeland - Ireland and then Paris for 3 weeks - we miss him already.

Bon voyage - safe travels

esdesign is 5!!

If esdesign were a person it would be time to start school, so we've put out a new range of beautiful blackboards to celebrate this momentous occasion. They are in store now, pop in and have a look! (you may even be allowed to draw on them, if you're really lucky!)

The last 5 years have been very exciting for anyone who has had the good fortune to be involved with esdesign, and long may it continue!

So here's to the next 5 years, may they be as much of a blast as the last 5 have been!
