Sourcing rugs in NZ can at times be a real battle! The internet presents us with amazing product every day but shipping them in can become completely cost prohibitive once we factor in freight and customs fees. Fabulous rug designs right at our fingertips, but yet so far away!

Thankfully there are some great suppliers who are slowly filtering some of this 'hard to get' product onto our shores. Included is the latest range of rugs from Nodi, called Organic Lines.
The range brings together design influences from Italy and marries them with the traditional art form of knotting and weaving from India. The resulting collection is abstract, subtle in colour and oh so usable in a range of interior situations. Contact us today if you'd like any more information!

Richard Pointon Rugs

One of the least known treasure troves in Wellington is Richard Pointon rugs in Petone. He is our 'go-to' supplier for the highest quality rugs that Richard himself hand sources from around the globe. We are like kids in a candy store whenever we visit his showroom, and earlier this week was no exception. Here are Eleanor and Katie carefully filtering through the hundreds of options to find the perfect rug for a client's entryway.

Richard can tell you the story behind each and every rug available; from the country of origin, history of the design, age, and often about the weavers themselves. Fascinating stuff, it beats a cheap and nasty 'rug liquidation sale' any day!

Turkish Delights - Patchwork & Overdyed rugs

One of our NZ suppliers has recently brought in a wide range of ever popular patchwork and over-dyed Turkish rugs. They're available in a great range of colours, and all of a really substantial size of approximately 2m x 3m which can be so hard to come across (we find that people always totally underestimate the size of the rug they need!).

From Russia With Love

One of our favourite rug suppliers Artisan has recently secured a gorgeous range of rugs from renowned international flooring designer Jan Kath. The collection is called 'From Russia With Love'.

'...This collection of distinctive hand-knotted wool and silk rugs is inspired by the bold floral headpieces traditionally worn by Russian girls....'

SUPER SALE starting tomorrow

You lucky Christmas shoppers - starting tomorrow we are having a sale of all our floor stock.  This includes everything except the lovely cushions by Alani McKenna (those students need our help) and any fabric ordered in by the metre.

Oyyo's Rugs

These beautiful rugs with bright colours are designed by a Design studio called Oyyo. Oyyo are founded in Sweden by Linda Zedig and Marcus Åhrén. The studio works in a nomadic way, exploring convergent cultures, design and fine craftsmanship - shown through their rugs that are hand woven by a a community of craftspeople near India's Blue City. The rugs are made out of 100% organic cotton and dyed using natural vegetable dyes.

Coloured Wooden Rugs by Elisa Strozyk

German designer Elisa Strozyk keeps crafting beautiful textiles made out of a surprising material wood!  Her coloured wood rugs are another piece to add to her large wooden material collection. Each rug has numerous triangles that are dyed and arranged to form various geometrical patterns. Each rug can either lay flat or be sculpted around the triangles sides to make pieces of art right in your living room.

Ingrid Anderson - Kaka Beak Rug

A wee while ago we showed you a newly developed rug design from Ingrid Anderson featuring her ever popular Pohutakawa design (see directly below). We're excited to say we can now add to this the Kaka Beak rug, made in New Zealand from 100% New Zealand wool - it is 2m x 3m in size, perfect for so many interior spaces.

Our best selling Ingrid Anderson fabric would have to be, by far, her 'Pohutakawa' design - and now we are excited to see that she has turned it into a rug!
The circular rugs come two metres in diameter, and made in NZ from 100% wool. We love it! Let us know if you fancy a bit of plush pohutakawa goodness under your toes this winter...
