Richard Pointon Rugs

One of the least known treasure troves in Wellington is Richard Pointon rugs in Petone. He is our 'go-to' supplier for the highest quality rugs that Richard himself hand sources from around the globe. We are like kids in a candy store whenever we visit his showroom, and earlier this week was no exception. Here are Eleanor and Katie carefully filtering through the hundreds of options to find the perfect rug for a client's entryway.

Richard can tell you the story behind each and every rug available; from the country of origin, history of the design, age, and often about the weavers themselves. Fascinating stuff, it beats a cheap and nasty 'rug liquidation sale' any day!

Counting Down.....

The count down is on til our studio opening day next week. The esdesign empire keeps expanding as Eleanor and Katie are now dressing the Change House stairwell, just so it's super clear that you're in the right place when you come along... see you all on Wednesday next week!

An Asian Excursion

Well I am back from an amazing holiday with my family to Sri lanka and Singapore. Sri Lanka is unbelievably rich in culture – ancient civilizations, wildlife, temples, monuments, carvings, textiles, gem stones – just to mention a few.  If you ever get the chance to visit – do – you will not be disappointed. The food is fantastic and the people warm, kind and welcoming.

Here is a taste of our trip......

Templeberg Villa. Fabulous colonial home in beautiful plantation surroundings owned and run by the lovely Karin, Swedish born kiwi.  http://templeberg.com/

Breakfast – the traditional egg hoppers and buffalo curd – yum!

Jungle Beach – the warmest sea I have ever bathed in.

.... and back to glorious Wellington with a bump!

Housekeeping

This morning we bid farewell to Eleanor who is off to Sri Lanka for a fortnight! How exciting! We look forward to hearing all about her travels on her return. In the mean time the rest of the esdesign team are here to help out with your pre-Christmas queries!

On the subject of Christmas - there are around 6 weeks left to get new orders in for curtaining that will be guaranteed complete before our workrooms head off on holidays - from then onward we can discuss new curtaining work on a case by case basis and depending on fabric lead times we may very well be able to sneak a bit more through after mid November!

Please keep in mind that our industry more or less shuts down completely over the Christmas period, with most workrooms opening again late January or early February. This will mean any new curtaining work put through in the New Year will likely be ready towards the end of Feb. File these dates away in your memory bank if you're weighing up ideal time frames for your interiors work.

There are some fun Christmas goodies heading into the shop over the next few weeks - great stocking stuffers and some bigger ticket items too, so keep checking in!

Some Weekend Inspiration

Well the weather for Wellington is looking rather 'meh' this weekend, so why not curl up in a cosy spot and loose yourself somewhere inspiring; maybe a book, maybe some good DIY shows on telly, or jump on Pinterest...Eleanor's a super keen 'pinner' and her esdesign boards are well worth a follow!

Spot Chelsea!

Here's a sneaky peak of the girls in scavenger mode on our buying trip last week... we had the most miserable weather ever, but were kept cosy and warm in the car between stops, and supplied with copious amounts of lollies to keep everyone cheery.
