Our Latest Design Work - Burger Liquor, Wellington

Our portfolio has had a wee update this morning with the addition of some yummy images of our latest commercial venture; the design of the interior for new Wellington eatery 'Burger Liquor'. Projekt Kuchnia - Poland

There's a new foodie's destination delight in Poland called Projekt Kuchnia and I am loving the sweet interior of their store, designed by Kasia Orwat.

The graphic black and white wall decal is particularly fantastic - set off with pops of aqua, pastel and sherbet tones. The design detail that pulls the whole look together is the contrast border around all of the cabinetry edging. So simple, but so effective - this store is light, bright, and totally inviting... shame we live on the opposite side of the world, I'd love to visit!

As important as it is to look locally for design inspiration, keeping an eye on design from around the globe also helps to keep your ideas fresh, and wee finds like this definitely help me do just that!

Wallpaper Wednesday: Muriva 'Foliage'

Check out this wallpaper called 'Foliage' by Muriva that we're specifying for some commercial work.
It is going on the ceiling - yes ceiling - of a corridor which is going to create the most wonderful feeling of literally walking through the bush with the light filtering through from above!

To help build a little more context around this it may help if you'd seen our facebook post earlier this morning... or it may just make things even more confusing... either way, all will be revealed in the New Year!

In the esdesign Studio This Week

Life in the esdesign studio at the moment is preeeeetty busy... but busy in a good way! It is right about now that all of our suppliers cut off for new orders pre-Chrissy, so it's go go go to get our orders through in time so our lovely clients can have new sofas to sit on, coffee tables to put feet up on, wallpaper to feast their eyes on... all in time for Christmas!

Well 22 of them actually!

These gorgeous wee regency shades are all heading for installation at a really fun commercial job we've been working on over the last few months.

We'll bring you an 'after' shot of them all in situ, soon!

One From the Archives - 'Ohtel'

Did you know that 4 years ago, esdesign were the team who helped pull together the interior fit out of the then new hotel, 'Ohtel' on Oriental Parade, Wellington?

We worked closely with designer and hotel owner Alan Blundell to create his vision of a boutique 10 room,  mid century flavoured destination accommodation spot.

No two rooms are alike, with each featuring an eclectic range of mid century furniture sourced from all over the world. Once all the furniture had made it's way to NZ, we were responsible for specifying all the interior colours, fabrics, lighting, flooring and finishes for each of the rooms and lobby/dining area, as well as co-ordinating and carrying out the upholstery and restoration work for all the furniture pieces. It was all topped off by styling each room with the myriad of mid century ceramics and artwork Alan had painstakingly collected with the hotel in mind.
