'Fantails' by Sarah Shepherd

One of our favourite fabrics at the moment is the beautiful 'fantails' design by New Zealand textile artist and designer Sarah Sheperd. Here's a little blurb from her about the printed linen.

'Fantails are one of the darling birds of the New Zealand bush.  They are a delightful companion on any bush walk as they dart around catching the tiny insects that are being disturbed. Their chaotic flight style is so distinctive, perfectly punctuated with the flashes of their fanned tail feathers. 

The fantails are paired with corokia cotoneaster (Maori name Korokia).  It also has very whimsical movements, but in its branch growth.  While its berries similarly echo the fantails little round bodies so visually they make a perfect match.'

Mark Taylor - 'Canine Cotton'

We have exciting new stock this week - new cushions made from a limited edition fabric called 'Canine Cotton' by talented Wellington Massey student Mark Taylor. These are a one-off product, there will be no more! So if you fancy yourself a bit of dog decor pop in now and check out these cute pooches!

Bee-n Re-cycling

We've been re-cycling some cool old beehive boxes and turning them into display cases at esdesign. We love the rough sawn wood with their random flakey paint colours and stencilled numbers against the white bricks on our back shop wall. Gotta love a good mix of textures! We've lined the backs with some pieces of vintage wallpaper that were kindly donated to us last week. Wollah!

We Love Our Job

We've been having so much fun putting together fabulous interior schemes for our clients lately.

Here's one we're working on for a commercial client at the moment. Don't you love that wallpaper!? And the carpet tiles are delicious!

Milk It

How sweet are these wee 'milking' stools, created by Justin Lamont and found over at Design Spotter.

They look like they've been dipped in liquid candy. We love them!

Buckles & Belts

 We've just had a new delivery of these gorgeous belt buckles designed by Wellington artist Rod Torvoort.

There are three buckles designs - the Tiki, the Harakeke, and the Koru. They all come in either a brass or a pewter finish. We also sell the classic black leather belts for them with dome buckle fastening so that the buckles can easily be interchanged if you can't narrow your selection down to just one!

Ballooning Back

Look at this darling wee chair! It's been re-upholstered in a stunning green velvet, and just to add a bit of quirkiness to the mix, we've covered the buttons in an array of other colours from the same fabric range.

A Little Inspiration

Nikki's been fossicking through our bundles of fabric scraps and remnants and is in the midst of putting together this amazing quilt. Just one of the many things you can do with the offcuts we have here, waiting for your hot little hands now! We'll make sure she shares the finished product with you too. Have you visited Pixel Ink? It's one of our favourite stores right around the corner on Cuba Street.

There, you will find the most delicious mix of fashion, accessories and artwork. Along with their in store fashion labels 'Deco' and 'Nouveau', they have new artists and illustrators showcasing their work all the time, so it's a forever changing feast for the eyes when you stop by. Their upcoming exhibitor is none other then the clever Massey graduate Rachel Walker. We adore her illustrations, so make sure you swing by Pixel Ink at the end of March to snap yourself up some goodness!

Adele - 'Chasing Pavements'

Here's a moody slice of the gorgeous Adele for this moody Wednesday morning. Any fellow Wellingtonians feel the quake last night? We certainly did! Adele is a rather good distraction from the shakin' we thinks....

Dandelion Clocks

On the note of all things Sanderson and retro, here is one chair from a pair, heading off to their new abode later today. We have had the beautiful Danish frames stripped and re-polished, and new squabs made in Sanderson 'Dandelion Clocks'. We are so pleased with how they've turned out, and hopefully their owner will be too!

We are bursting at the seams with excitement at showing you this fantastic new range of fabrics and wallpapers recently released by Sanderson. We got to see them all today and we've put orders through to have the sampling and some great displays of it in our showroom very very soon!
